Trapper with second cut stag handles, new grind tangs and a double oval "CASE" block letter shield. Shown in catalog used for 1984 and 1985. Case was having trouble making the shoulderless grind knives so in August, 1984, the factory announced that the first 1,000 made in 1984 would have a square cut shoulder, and thereafter, the new shoulderless grind like this one would be used. This knife was introduced into the standard product line this year, but stag handles were not available until Oct of 1984. The 1984 new grind knives therefore were only produced for a very short time. Shoulderless grind verified. Both tang stamps verified. This knife does not say SSP on the model number tang stamp, but instead says SS.
