Status Update on KnifeDB
As you know, KnifeDB.com is a work in progress. Here’s what has happened since the last update.
1. There are now 27,179 pocket knives in the database, up 582 since July.
2. The count of prices is up to 50,347, an increase of 1,189. This is important to collectors because these are the actual price the knives sold for. Further, the prices are adjusted for inflation twice a year. In other words if a price sold for $80 in 1990, the adjustment tells the collector how much that would be today. On KnifeDB the collectors tell other collectors how much each knife is worth.
3. I have focused on three areas since the last report: Case Collector Club knives, 2008 knives, and the latest year I am trying to complete–2015. My wife and I are the only two people adding knives, and I am proud of what we have accomplished.
4. 2015 is kicking me around pretty good. For example, there are over 220 bone handled 6254 trappers to add for 2015 at about 40 minutes each. I still have more than 100 to add.
5. Future work: continue on 2015; look for missing knife pictures, and begin heavy audit and correction of data. Of the 27179 knives listed, I have pictures of 93.5%. I want to get the rest…
As my friend, Tommy Rex Schnable says: the BladeMaster is almost 3/4 of the way to nearly perfect.
