Case Collector Knife Clubs–Bold City

I like Case collector club knives.   They have the necessary collector ingredients to help future values.

  1. They are rare, almost always fewer than 200 knives, sometimes as few as 25.
  2. They are frequently heavily embellished. Each new feature adds to original cost.  And original cost frequently matches future cost.  High today often translates into higher tomorrow.
  3. The designs are frequently beautiful. And beauty is an unquantifiable ingredient that moves values.

So, I am putting more focus on club knives in KnifeDB.com.  I have chanced across 135 different knife club names and listed them in the club name drop down box (in Special Collector Searches on the knife search page).   I added any knives I randomly found with that club name.    But I haven’t done specific searches for each knife a club created.  I am now changing that and trying to find everything each club had made.

I have started on the factory Case Collectors Club which will take awhile,  and the Bechtler Mint Knife Club.  I am adding boxes, COA’s, and selling prices as I search.  I believe I have finished the Bold City Knife Club (Jacksonville, Florida).  This club started in 1981, the same year as the factory collector club.  They made a knife every year from the charter year of 1981 to 1994.  The quantity of knives made went down each year in the last three years.  Only 25 knives were made in 1994, the final year.  Check these out.  I recommend sorting the search results by year.  I date each knife by the tang stamp year, but I also put in a second year because a 1988 tang stamp might have a 1990 club  work year on the blade.

Watch for your club.  I will announce each club as I finish, and you may find a current value for the first time.   To find any club today, go to Knife Search.  Open “Special Collector Searches”.  Open Club name and click on search.  If you are not a member you can join for less than a cup of coffee a month.
